“Okay! Let’s roast them all!” (Vanguards)

Immediately after that, the vanguard troops left the gate and started cleaning up. And since the monsters this time were El Sheep, they began to dismantle and roast them.

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting! I brought the supplies!” (Merchant)

Meanwhile, a cart pulled by horses arrived, and the men unloaded boxes and barrels from the back.

“This is the best wine from the Commercial Guild! Please try it.” (Merchant)

“Here are some more arrows. We have plenty to go around.” (Merchant)

“Here’s the stew. Anyone who wants some, come here.” (Merchant)

Apparently, the Commercial Guild had been negotiated with. One after another, various items were unloaded from the back of the cart.

A few large pots were placed at the edge of the road, firewood was thrown underneath them, and a large pot was placed on top.

“Fire, into this hand, [Ember].” (Mage)

Someone cast a spell, and a bead of fire slowly flew to the firewood, scorching it to a crisp. After about ten seconds, the ember disappeared, and the firewood caught fire.

Magic is so convenient, I thought.

Normally, it is quite difficult to set fire to firewood. Even if you use a tool like a lighter to set fire to the wood, it is not easy to light it. Therefore, we usually burn paper and other things that are easy to ignite first and then use the flame to burn thin branches, then thin wood, and then thick wood. However, the magic skipped that order and suddenly set fire to the thin wood. I guess that’s how much heat they have.

That’s how they lit all the firewood.

One of them was used to stew in a large pot. In the other, they roasted the meat.

The meat was cut down to a suitable size and soaked in some kind of jar before being cooked on the grill. Inside the jar, there was a blackish liquid and what looked like finely chopped leaves.

I wondered if it was the secret sauce.

The oil dripped from the roasted meat, making a sizzling sound and popping on the hot wood, giving off an appetizing aroma.

The sounds and smells stimulated my senses, and the adventurers around me gradually gathered. Without saying a word, they all pulled out their bags.

I heard the sound of someone gulping down a bowl of spit.

Was it someone else’s? No, it might have been my own mouth that made that sound.

I hurriedly pulled out a wooden bowl and spoon from my backpack. I thought for a moment that I might need some chopsticks, but what I didn’t have was not an option. I would have to make do with a spoon for now. It would be nice to make it myself if I had the time.

“Now it’s ready! If you want some, just bring out a container. There’s still plenty left, so keep eating!” (Cook)

At that moment, the surrounding adventurers rushed in and started pushing each other.

“Pops! Give me three!” (Adventurer)

“I’ll have four!” (Adventurer)

“Then give me five!” (Adventurer)

“Hey! Don’t push us! There’s more! Order, wait for your turn.” (Cook)

And so, after a battle with the adventurers, I secured three chunks of meat, and a glass of wine, I left the battle.

“This is good… it’s not like the watered-down wine I usually drink.” (Adventurer)

“I don’t know what it is, but it’s f*cking awesome! I don’t know what it is, but it’s really delicious!” (Adventurer)

As I watched the adventurers shouting with delight as they ate the meat, I tried some myself.

I bit into the meat, which was about half the size of my fist, and chomped down on it.

“…so hard.”

The taste on my tongue was salty and herby and delicious, but it was too hard to chew through.

I looked at the adventurers around me.

Almost all of the adventurers who were eating the meat had some sort of knife in their hands. The knives varied, ranging from small fruit knives to large survival knives.

After observing them for a while, I noticed that they were using the knives to cut off the meat they had picked and then cutting it into bite-sized pieces before throwing them into their mouths. They would bite into the meat with gusto and then cut it off with a knife and eat it.

“I see…… So that’s how you eat it?” (Rook)

I also took out a goblin knife from my backpack and cut off a small piece of meat that I picked up with my fingers and put it in my mouth.

“This is a new taste for me.” (Rook)

The saltiness of the meat spread through my mouth, with a fresh taste of herbs that resembled basil, and some kind of tangy spice. Then, the flavor of the meat juices spread in my mouth, and finally, a smoky aroma came out of my nose.

If you cut off a small piece of meat, you won’t mind the toughness too much.

Cut off a piece of meat and put it in your mouth.

I chew, taste, and swallow as if squeezing out the juices.

Suddenly, I remembered to take a drink from the canteen of wine I had been given earlier.

“This is not bad either.” (Rook)

I cut off a piece of meat, savored it in my mouth, and washed it down with wine. Then cut off another piece of meat, taste it, and swallow it with wine.

This is a taste you don’t get at the usual cheap hotels. The amount of salt is the same, the herbs are different, and the spices are different. The wine must have been of a level that I wouldn’t normally drink.

The adventurers around me smiled as if they were satisfied with the taste.

The prickly atmosphere of earlier days was gone, and the morale of the adventurers, which had been falling, seemed to me to have risen dramatically.

The walls became noisier and I felt that the atmosphere from before had suddenly changed.

“Hey… what is that?” (Adventurer)

“Well… I haven’t seen anything like that before.” (Adventurer)

The adventurers on the wall started to make a lot of noise.

I also felt something strange about the change in the atmosphere, so I went up the stairs and looked out the wall.

What I saw was the same scenery as before. And there was a small black mountain.

A mountain? Then, I thought deeper, and when I looked closely, I saw that the mountain was moving.

 Towards us.

“Is that a… Wild Boar? …No, there’s something wrong with the shape and proportion of it…” (Adventurer)

I took a closer look, listening to the words of the adventurer beside me.

If you look closely, the mountain looks like a boar… but something seems off.

The Guild Master noticed the change. He came running up the stairs, clinging to the wall as he looked at the black mountain.

“Is that a… Great Boar…?” (Waller)

The Guild Master whispered, “Great Boar… Great Boar…”, then his eyes bugged out, and shouted.

“The Great Boar! A B-rank monster! Everybody, break time is over! Get ready now! Earth magicians, hurry up and build a wall! We can’t hold it back like this! Hurry up!

At the Guild Master’s shout, everyone stopped moving for a moment, but those who were able to swallow the situation changed color and started to run around.

The whole area became tense at once, with people moving about in a hurry and some screaming.

“Damn it! Why is it that problems like this happen when I’m the Guild Master?! There aren’t any adventurers in this town who can take down a B-rank monster!” (Waller)

While saying that, the Guild Master pounds his fist at the railings of the wall.
