The next morning, I readied and went to the dining hall, where I was served soft bread, fried eggs, and bean soup.

After breakfast, I went to the guild and had an interview with the Guild Master before going to the adventurer training school in a horse-drawn carriage with me.

When I asked him about the purchase, he told me to do it in the afternoon and we were to leave for the school immediately.

“Winston, is it really far away?” (Louis)

“No, it won’t take more than half an hour to walk there. But it is an institution run by the nobility, so the first time you go there, you have to go by carriage. I’m sure you’ll be fine, Louis, but be careful how you speak to the nobility.” (Winston)

 Ah~ that’s a hassle.

I wonder why it’s like I am meeting the president of a bank or the president of a big company.

I don’t really understand the manners and etiquette of nobles in this world…

“Well, I’ve never met an aristocrat before, and I don’t know anything about manners and etiquette, is that okay?” (Louis)

“I don’t have time to teach you etiquette now, but I’ll support you, so just try not to be rude to the best of your ability.” (Winston)

“I understand.” (Louis)

the Adventurer’s Training School was closer than I had expected.

When you think about it, it’s an adventurer’s school, so it’s only natural that it’s close to the guild.

The carriage passed through the school gate and was pulled up to the entrance of the wooden school building.

The school building is a two-story structure, and although it is not very large, it has a schoolyard behind the school building and a training area for combat training and indoor magic training.

I followed Winston into the school building and was led to the principal’s office.

Winston knocked and we entered the room, which had a desk in the back and a reception set in the front, and although it was not luxurious, it was clean and dignified.

At the desk in the front was an intelligent, dandy-looking man of about 50 years old with engaging grayish-brown eyes.

“Welcome. I am Bert Sennett, principal of the Sennett School for Adventurers.” (Bert)

I was told that he was a count, but he did not speak to me high handedly, and I felt at the same time, he addressed me in a polite manner, which made him seem quite friendly.

“Nice to meet you. Sennett, I, no, my name is Louis, a C-rank adventurer. and I look forward to working with you for a short period of one month.” (Louis)

“There is no need to be too awed. I founded this school to send out adventurers who can survive. I look forward to working with you as an instructor for one month.” (Bert)

Winston followed up after hearing Count Sennett’s words, who seemed to be a kind old man.

“Count, he came to this country after having done a great deal of work in other countries, and he is so skilled that we have received a recommendation to promote him to the rank of B. I am sure that he will be able to accomplish a great deal in a short period of time.” (Winston)

Winston, please stop raising the bar.

“I have high expectations. Now I will introduce you to the other instructors, so please join the meeting. You may also observe a class today.”

Count Sennett seemed to be a man who is sensible and has a soft manner.

He got up from his seat and walked ahead of me to the staff room.

Count Sennett called out to the other instructors in the staff room.

“Teacher Micah, Teacher Maggie, the temporary lecturer has arrived. Let me introduce you to Louis, a C-rank adventurer. He’s young, but I hear he’s a capable person, so please discuss this with him, and let’s get on with the class.” (Bert)

“”Yes.”” (Micah & Maggie)

“I am Micah, an instructor at this school and an active C-rank adventurer. I use fire and water magic, but I mainly teach swordsmanship in class. I’m looking forward to working with you.” (Micah)

He has short brown hair and light green eyes. He is about 30 years old, of medium height and medium build, and does not look like he works out much, but he has a strong, self-assertive look in his eyes.

“I’m Louis. I’m a C-rank adventurer too. I’m a tamer and use non-attribute and a little earth magic. Nice to meet you.” (Louis)

“I am Maggie, a D rank adventurer. I use wind and earth magic. I teach magic in class. Nice to meet you. Since we can use the same earth magic, please demonstrate it in class sometimes.” (Maggie)

She has semi-long, blond hair and blue eyes. She carries a wand and seems very reserved.

“Thank you very much for your warm welcome.” (Louis)

“It looks like you’ve already finished your greetings, I look forward to your lessons.” (Bert)

“””Yes.””” (Everyone)

Count Sennett returned to the principal’s office, and Mr. Winston also left immediately since he couldn’t leave the guild unattended.

I asked them about the school system, class assignments, and the classes they were in charge of, but since it was already time for classes to start, we decided to go to class with the students today and have a meeting in the afternoon.

They said there would be one classroom and two instructors teaching the class.

I was assigned to join the class with the other students in the back of the classroom.

There were 15 students, and looking at the faces of the students, many of them were about the age of a junior high school and had young faces.

Micah stood at the podium for the entire 30 minutes and told his tales of being an adventurer…

Huh? What? This is a class?

After the adventure story, they were instructed to go out to the schoolyard for swordsmanship training.

I walk out with 15 other students, but there is no excitement among the students, only an air of wanting it to be over as soon as possible.

They were to go out to the schoolyard, and everyone was to equip themselves with the wooden swords and bucklers prepared by the school and do the moves they were told.

After repeating the moves that Micah had told them for about 30 minutes, the swordsmanship practice ended with a mock battle between the students.

After a short break, the students moved indoors to the magic forging area to practice magic.

In the magic practice area, wooden targets stood side by side, and the students trained to hit them with the magic they were good at.

After a few students had demonstrated a few magic attacks, Maggie asked for me to do a little demonstration.

“Um, it’s not good to destroy the target, is it?” (Louis)

 I asked.

“I believe the principal told me that the target has been given defensive magic by a famous magician, so it won’t break. I think it’s safe to hit it as hard as you can.” (Maggie)

“Then, if it breaks, please take care of it for me, Maggie.” (Louis)

The target exploded as expected when I quickly aimed at it and launched the Magic Arrow chantlessly.

The target exploded with a bang and Maggie was stunned with her mouth gaping open, unable to take her eyes off the target that exploded.

The students reacted in the same way.

“Maggie? It’s broken.” (Louis)

“Wait, without chanting? What is with that power? What’s going on?” (Maggie)

I thought I had adjusted the power to make it smaller, but maybe the target was weak.

“The target must have been old.” (Louis)

“No, that can’t be it? How could the target be destroyed by breaking through the defensive spell of a renowned magician…?” (Maggie)

“I think it’s better to move on with the lesson.” (Louis)

The next student selected just realized it’s his turn when I told him to proceed.

After all the students had finished casting their spells, Maggie cast [Stone Bullet], but I felt a stone, which was cast with [Psychokinesis], was more powerful.

After the magic training, we returned to the classroom and listened to Maggie’s tale of adventure.

The class ended a little before noon, and there would be no afternoon classes.

I had another meeting with them in the staff room, and they said that they have been teaching classes like this for a long time. I don’t think this is what you would call a school, but I won’t put it into words.

I see. Adventurers who don’t go far become active instructors.

And the same goes for the students, who, after completing their tedious morning classes, spend their afternoons working and then graduate to live as adventurers.

“Micah, Maggie, I’ll treat you to a delicious lunch, so could you tell me a little more about the school and the classes?” (Louis)

The two of them agreed, perhaps lured by the delicious lunch.

I rented the school’s kitchen and served them Jewel Boar steaks, a salad of fresh vegetables with mayonnaise, and bread, and after lunch I spent an hour or so getting to know them about the school and their classes.

 The meal received glowing reviews.

“I’ve never eaten such delicious meat!” (Micah)

“Really, I could eat as much as I want.” (Maggie)

After lunch, over a cup of tea, I found out that the classes are continuing as before.

The school system is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for a period of three months, with one Sunday off per week.

The enrollment fee is 10 gold coins but they can use the facilities for 3 months without paying tuition.

The instructor’s salary is 20 gold coins per month, so three students would pay 60 gold coins or 180 gold coins for three months.

If the enrollment fee is 10 gold coins and there are 15 students, the total is 150 gold coins, which means that the school is operating at a loss.

Furthermore, some of the students commute from their homes, while others rent accommodations in town or live in boarding houses.

The fact that they don’t have classes in the afternoons means that they have to free up their time to earn their living expenses.

It may be a painless expense for Count Sennett, but does it accomplish a goal? I wonder a little.

After listening to the whole story, I asked them if they would like to revise the lectures again.
