The person who came out was a beautiful blonde woman with a well-defined face and slightly pointed ears.

She was a typical fantasy elf.

She had the kind of ears you see in the movies.

“Yes, you need a potion?” (Elf)

Potions… Oh, I’m a customer at an apothecary, that’s normal to ask of course.

I was a little happy to hear the mention of potions that I had only seen in games, but I told her that I had come to have my aptitude checked and that I wanted to buy a bottle of potion.

Generally, a priest or a priestess will check your aptitude for a job if you pay a donation at a church, but since Camus-san was born with such an ability and there is no church in the village, Camus-san is instead doing the check.

She doesn’t take any money for the aptitude check, but instead, before she does it you have to agree to not complain about the results.

Personally, I’d rather pay to have my aptitude checked if it’s suitable.

Perhaps there were some horrible parents who would complain about a change in aptitude?

When I asked what how job aptitudes look like, she told me that she could see colors and images that changed several times until people were about 10 years old, gradually stabilizing between 10 and 15 years old, but rarely changing even after 15 years old.

For example, a blacksmith can have a lead-colored aura and images of hammers and anvil, a fisherman can have light blue or blue and images of fish, boats, and nets, and a farmer can have green and images of ears of wheat and leaves.

I paid the price of a potion, three silver coins each, and then I had my aptitude checked.

“What kind of job am I suitable for?” (Rui)

I asked excitedly.

“Your color… the colors change, your aura burst, and the image is not clear. I met someone with more than three aptitudes a long time ago who had a similar feeling, but… hmmm, imagine a job you know.” (Camus)

I thought, so I started by imagining myself as a blacksmith, hammering a katana.

“Next, think of another job!” (Camus)

Next, I imagined that I was working at a desk in an office.

“Next, think of another job!” (Camus)

Next, I imagined the apothecary in front of me, or maybe a drugstore, since that was my job before.

“Next!” (Camus)

I then imagine a ramen shop.

“That’s enough. It changed when you imagined it strongly, but you have the aptitude for all of them. I’m sure you have other aptitudes as well, so I think it’s okay to do what you like. You’ve got a few years of adulthood left anyway, right?” (Camus)

“I’m small in stature, but I’m already an adult. Thank you.” (Rui)

I said with a bitter chuckle as everyone I met said that to me.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you were about twelve or thirteen when I saw your height since you came to ask about your aptitude.” (Camus)

“Oh, it’s okay. I’m fine.” (Rui)

When I asked her what she thought my aptitude looked like, she told me that she thought it looked like a hammer with a gray aura, a quill with a white aura, a medicine bottle with a purple aura, and a pot with a light yellow aura.

The colors aside, the images somehow seemed to fit.

I asked her if it was possible that she just saw those images when I imagined them, and she said that normally the colors and images that Camus-san sees do not change even if people strongly imagine them.

I could see that Camus-san looked tired, so I thanked her and left the store to return to Thomas General Store.

“How was it? What is your job aptitude?” (Thomas)

Thomas-san asked me curiously.

“Well, they said that I have at least three aptitudes and that I should try to do what I like.” (Rui)

“Oh, that’s interesting. Then you should try to do whatever you want.”

I thanked him and headed for the blacksmith shop.

I arrived at the blacksmith shop in less than ten minutes.

I recognized it immediately because there was a board under the eaves of the building with a sign the size of a dart target and a picture of a hammer and an anvil.

The inside of the store was so small that three people would not even be able to pass each other.

The workshop in the back might be bigger.

“Hello~.” (Rui)

It was Pete, the guard on duty, who came out from the back.

“Hello, Louis. What do you want? We only have farming tools here, so if you want to buy weapons or armor, you’ll have to go to town.” (Pete)

When I looked at the store, I noticed that they didn’t have any weapons or armor, but sickles, hoes, and other farming tools.

“Really? Well, I came here to see if I could experience a little blacksmithing.” (Rui)

“I’m a blacksmith because I have the aptitude, but I’m a farm-blacksmith, not a swordsmith. And I can only teach you what I’ve done.” (Pete)

Oh! That means he can teach me. Okay!

“I’d like to try it out, please!” (Rui)

He agreed, and the next day, he started teaching me in the morning.

It’s precious to be able to experience something at my age that I’ve never experienced even in my previous life.

I was starting to enjoy it.

The tuition was five silver coins, and it was cheap.

When I returned to the inn in high spirits, I found that the dining room was open.

I immediately went to the dining room and ordered dinner.

I would have liked to drink some alcohol, but I didn’t want to order alcohol because, in my mind, 15 years old is not an adult, even if it is called an adult.

After all, I don’t have the looks to match.

One day, when I can’t take it anymore, I’ll be 60 years old inside! How inconvenient.

Yeah, well, whatever.

Two pieces of bread and some stew came out? A pottage? Is that a pickled celery?

I tried it, but the bread was hard and the texture was tough. My jaw would get tired and the thin skin on my upper jaw would peel off.

When I chewed it, it tasted good, but it took all the moisture out of my mouth.

Is the stew turnip? The stew-like dish with several other vegetables stewed in it is tasty, though not very flavorful.

There is no meat in it.

The pickles, well, they were just regular pickled celery.

I was not thrilled, but it was good enough for one silver coin.

I wonder what I’ll be able to eat tomorrow morning? I’m looking forward to it.

After finishing my meal, I went back to my room to reflect on today’s events.

It’s been a very fleeting day since I became aware of my reincarnation.

I know it’s going to be hard until I get a good foundation for my life, but I feel like this might be the most exciting time in my life.

That’s what I thought as I went to sleep.
