The next morning, after having breakfast of granola bars, toasted bread, and soup, we moved to the same rocky area as yesterday and began to take down more rabbits.
Yesterday, we started in the afternoon and were able to take down 20 rabbits, so today we started in the morning and hoped to take down at least 30.
I proceeded in the same manner as yesterday, but there was one thing I wanted to try.
That was to make the enemy “decelerate”.
[Physical Enhancement] is like making the person accelerate, but if I could cast a spell that has the opposite effect, I should be able to slow the target down.
“Coming from 100 meters in front.” (Louis)
“Woah!” (Alan)
Alan answered, but the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit we saw was bigger and faster.
Alan was blown away and it headed toward me, so I cast [Deceleration] as I meet it.
The Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit slowed down to about a third of its speed, even though its jumping posture remained the same.
It is really slow!
I used Psychokinesis to smash the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit from the side with the rocks around it.
The Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit seemed to notice the approaching rocks, but it could not dodge and received them head-on.
With a thud, its huge body was blown away from in front of me to the left.
I made sure Alan was safe and handed him a beginner’s potion, then, just as I had done with the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit before, I drained his blood with the Vampire Knife and threw it into my Magic Bag.
Immediately afterward, I felt a spine-tingling chill run down my back and looked around but saw nothing.
I looked up and saw three Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits falling down on me, each about the same size as the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit I had just killed.
“From above! Dodge!” (Louis)
I shouted, and they all looked up.
I was lucky to get out of the way of the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit’s landing spot, and rocks were bouncing off the spot and hitting everyone.
I had my Magic Shield deployed, so I was unharmed.
Everyone seemed to be injured, but no one was seriously injured, so I decided to leave them be and face the monsters for the time being.
The power was quite different when their size was bigger.
I shouted to get their attention.
“Hey there! Look at me!” (Louis)
Three Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits looked at me immediately.
They seemed to recognize me as a target.
They rushed at me from three different directions at the same time, so, I cast [Deceleration] on two of them just before they collided, and I instructed Huey to spew mucus and acid over them.
Huey trapped the two as instructed and poured acid on their heads, but he could not finish them off because they were so huge that they just screamed with an unpleasant cry, “Gyi”, as their heads burn.
I told Huey to back off and stabbed the two of them with my Vampire Knife.
The remaining one attacked from above again.
Even though I could defend against it with my Magic Shield, it was dangerous to catch it because of its mass, so I dodged.
The Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit leaped back to the side as it landed, then dexterously leaped up the cliff.
But I have clearly seen it…
I cast [Decelaration] on the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit that attacked me from above.
I avoided it by rolling away from the landing point, and then I hit it with a nearby rock, which hit the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit as it landed and killed it.
I let out a breath and took a look around.
I was relieved to know that I would not be caught by the search, so I called out to the Tiger’s Roar members in turn and gave them the beginner potions.
After I finished handing out potions to all four of them, I drained the blood from the last Huge Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit and tossed it into my Magic Bag.
We decided to pull back to the campsite and take a lunch break.
For lunch, we made and ate Jewel Boar Meat with Ginger.
The sauce is soy sauce based, so it goes well with rice.
I served it with shredded cabbage because the meat alone is not nutritious enough.
The ginger pork bowl was also a big hit.
During the lunch break, we discussed the Huge Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits, and it was decided that it must be a mutant.
I couldn’t tell the difference except for the size.
In the afternoon, we continued, in the same manner, to hunt Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit Subjugation, finishing the day with over 30 of them.
We had some time to kill, so we added a few more monsters and I added a few more minerals and rocks to the endless storage.
There were not many minerals in the area, even though it was surrounded by rugged cliffs.
Perhaps the mining of minerals may be controlled by the government, so I may need to check in advance.
I secretly vowed not to go digging in the field like in Vista Village.
We camped as we did last night, and after dinner, Alan offered me my share.
I would take all the mutants, and with the rest of the monsters, everyone would get a fair share of the purchase.
They were sorry that I had to pay for the potion as well.
I had been making potions for the first time and keeping them in my Infinite Storage, and since I was already able to make advanced potions, the value of beginner potions had become extremely low.
After some thought, I decided to take only the meat from the four mutants and split the rest evenly among everyone.
The next morning, we dismantled the encampment and I stowed them away.
We went on our way back, applying the same [Physical Enhancement] like when we got here.
We encountered goblins and slimes along the way, but I made it back to town without fighting any of the high-ranking monsters.
When we reported the subjugation results and requested the guild to purchase the monsters, 54 Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits, 4 mutant-variant, and 1 Rock Lizard were the result of our efforts on this request.
The reward for killing the Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits was 1 gold coin, and the Rock Lizard was also 1 gold coin, and the total purchase price was 140 gold coins, although some were in good condition and some were quite damaged.
The mutant dismemberment fee was deducted, and I received the meat of a butchered Rock Hopper Horned Rabbit.
I parted ways with the others at the guild, promising that if we had the chance, we would party up again, even temporarily, to take on a quest.
