I visited the guild in search of new quests and looked at the quest board, but the subjugation quests were too difficult for solo takers.

I sighed as I looked at the E- and D-rank quests posted on the board.

“Silver Wolf Subjugation: 30 gold coins per body, materials purchased separately”

“Wyvern Subjugation: 50 gold coins per body, materials purchased separately”

“Four-Armed Bear Subjugation: 40 gold coins per body, materials purchased separately”

All of these quests are party-oriented, although the rewards and purchases are also high.

I could probably do it with just one wolf, but these quests basically require more than one wolf.

There’s no way I could kill just one wolf.

When I was thinking and looking at the board, before I knew it, a warrior and spearman looked at the quest board and thought like me.

The warrior was tall and muscular with a broad, compact body, just like how Spartacus would have looked like in my imagination.

“Hey, you’re staring. Is there something you need?” (Warrior)

“Oh, I’m sorry. I’m Louis. I couldn’t help but stare at that your amazing muscles.” (Louis)

“I’m Leon, leader of the E-rank party [Dragon’s Claw]. This is Owen. Aren’t you a member of the party [Tiger’s Roar] that took down a lot of Rock Hopper Horned Rabbits the other day?” (Warrior => Leon)

“That was a temporary party. I am good friends with Tiger’s Roar, and I agreed to party with them at least once.” (Louis)

“I thought it was impossible for those guys to take down a large number of prey by themselves, but it was probably because you were there. Then, why don’t you form a temporary party with us and take on a subjugation quest together?” (Leon)

What? Is it okay if I don’t check with the other members?” (Louis)

“We’re a party of three, and the other one is waiting in the cafeteria. Owen and I are enough for that.” (Leon)

I mean, you just decided on your own, didn’t you? I thought, but when I looked at Owen’s face, he was smiling wryly.

I guess he is usually like this. I wonder why so many party leaders are like this.

“Can I decide whether or not to join the temporary party after deciding which subjugation quest you will take on?” (Louis)

“Yeah, sure. We are going to take this one.” (Leon)

The quest he pointed to was “Four-Armed Bear Subjugation: 40 gold coins per body, materials purchased separately”

I was going to refuse if it was Silver Wolf or Wyvern, but this is good.

The number of wolves would be too much for four E-rankers to take down even if we work together, and I am inexperienced with Wyverns, and I don’t think the weapons of the two people in front of me right now will be enough to take down an enemy in the sky.

“Okay, shall we head over there to create a temporary party and get the formalities done? Are you ready to go?” (Louis)

“Yeah, we just had to decide which one we were going to take today, so we’re all set.” (Leon)

After that, Leon and I went to the counter to complete the formalities and departed for the West Forest.

It was a three-day trip one way to our destination, with only the first day being taken by horse-drawn wagon to the halfway point.

As usual, I asked the receptionist at the guild to let me check the picture in the Monster Encyclopedia, and it looked like a four-armed bear, just like its name.

I met up with Leif, another “Dragon’s Claw” member, and we decided to board the wagon at the west gate.

There were seven civilians, one of whom was a girl of about five years old, and including the four of us, eleven of us rode together to the halfway point.

The mother of a small child told her child that it would be nice for adventurers to accompany them on their trip halfway because there are no escorts on the horse-drawn carriage, but the horse-drawn carriage can operate regularly without escorts because the road is safe. Originally, it should be okay if there are no adventurers, but I think she does this to give small children a sense of security.

The carriage took a lunch break, and once everyone got off the carriage, we all decided to have lunch.

As I was eating my lunch of grilled meat on a koppe bun, Owen called out to me,

“Louis, isn’t that bread from Hank’s Bakery? They’re hard to buy.” (Owen)

“Eh?” (Louis)

“Even if you line up, they are quick to get sold out, so it is hard to even buy one.” (Owen)

Is that so? I’m sure they don’t sell the ones with barbecued meat on the side, but I guess they figured that from looking at the shape of the bread.

“Well, would you like to try some?” (Louis)

Not only Owen, but Leon and Leif were also staring, so I handed the three of them the koppe bread with grilled meat in it, and they ate it as if they were just inhaling it.

“It’s delicious! Is it this the new product where they put meat in?” (Owen)

“I can eat it over and over!” (Leon)

“This is the first bread I ate with such a good texture!” (Leif)

I was thanked profusely by all three of them, and as I continued to eat, I noticed that a little girl who was riding with me had come close to me, so I asked her if she wanted to try some.

“You want to try one?” (Louis)

“Is it okay? Really?” (Girl)

I handed her koppe bread and she took a bite, chewed it and swallowed it, and then finished the whole thing.

“Delicious! I’ve never eaten bread like this before! Delicious! Oh!” (Girl)

“What’s wrong?” (Louis)

“I forgot about my mom and ate the whole thing…” (Girl)

“Ah, then bring this to your mom, okay?” (Louis)

“Thank you, big brother!” (Girl)

She was so happy as she took the bread and ran away. A little later, she and her mother came all the way to my place to thank me.

The mother told me she didn’t have the money to pay, but I told her she didn’t need to worry about it because I was just giving it to a child, and I also gave her about 20 portable granola bars wrapped in a cloth.

The mother was very embarrassed, but I told her not to worry about it and forced her to take it.

After the lunch break, we arrived at a fork in the road about an hour after we started moving, we got off, and the wagon continued moving northwest toward a town.

The parent and child waved at us.

We continued on the road from the junction to the southwest.

As the wagon drove away, I suggested to the members of the Dragon’s Claw that we could use my Physical Enhancement spell to get to our destination faster.

They all gladly accepted, so we decided to proceed with my magic.

I had heard from our leader, Leon, that today’s campsite would be near a river, so I was expecting to be able to eat grilled fish if we could catch some there, but the reality was harsh: the river was a really small creek, not big enough to catch river fish.

Anyway, we arrived at the planned campsite, so we started to get ready. As usual, I took out the tent and the rocket stove for cooking from my Infinite Storage, and I was ready to go.

I had some time on my hands until the others were finished setting up, so I explored the creek for 500 meters and a small forest nearby just to be sure.

There were only small fish and frogs in the stream and small animals such as wild birds and rabbits in the forest.

I used [Exploration] to get as close as I could without being noticed by the white-winged blackbird, took a few pebbles out of storage, and hit them using [Psychokinesis].

I was able to hunt the rabbit the same way.

Both were bled out with a vampire knife, tossed into the magic bag, and returned to the encampment.

When I reached the campsite, the preparations were just about finished, so we started cooking.

The rabbit meat was cut, sprinkled with salt and pepper, grilled in oil, and finished with a tomato sauce I had prepared separately.

For the wild bird, I plucked the feathers, removed the entrails from the belly, stuffed it with rice, vegetables, and herbs, and cooked it in a Dutch-oven style pot to make something close to roast chicken.

It takes a while to cook, so I cut up the rabbit and bread and served them first.

“I didn’t know you could have good food in the field.” (Leon)

“The tang of the tomatoes makes me even hungrier.” (Owen)

“I didn’t know rabbit could be such a tasty meal.” (Leif)

Thanks to the rocket stove, the cooking was easy and stable.

I even made a roast faux chicken and served it without asking whether they want rice or not, but it was a big hit.

As we were cleaning up after dinner, I was excused from the night watch in return for the meal.

I have Huey and Exploration Magic, so I don’t need to be on night watch, but I decided to take their word for it.
