Occupation: Dungeon Tester (Regular Employee)

Magical Aptitude: Eight (General Class)

Job Title: Warrior

I know this may seem out of the blue, but I think that the way time progresses varies from person to person.

Sometimes it feels slow and sometimes it feels fast.

The sense of time may differ depending on what you are doing, who you are doing it with, where you are doing it, and so on.

All I can say is that the time that has passed since I joined this company has been long, but it has felt fast.

It has only been three months since I changed jobs, and I must have felt like a rookie, or as I call it, a customer, because I was trying to handle a huge amount of work efficiently, accurately, and quickly during the time I had to get out of the customer status.

There is an atmosphere around me that makes people think I have been working for many years…

“Attention you lousy bastards!” (Jiro)

“”Sir! Yes sir!!”” (Other Employees)

It’s all in your mind.

I’m just a new guy, I’ve just joined the company.

What’s so sad that I have to act like a drill sergeant?

The testers are running in the wilderness, all of them are dressed in jerseys that have been converted into magical bodies and are doing physical training, starting with push-ups and ending with a marathon.

The obedient attitude of the testers was a complete change from the way they had treated me in the past. I may have been at fault for snapping, but let me excuse myself and say that you guys are at fault for making me snap.

It’s been a month since I entered the training room today, but in real-time it’s actually been less than an hour, so I think back like it is a month ago.

“Do you know why you were gathered here?” (Jiro)

“”…”” (Other Employees)

There it is. The Japanese people’s characteristic silent response, expecting someone else to give them the answer.

The reason we gathered all the testers was to retrain them.

I made it known to them and arranged a date for them to get together, but their attitude toward me was terrible.

Sitting in a corner of the conference room, they were unmotivated.

I am a full-time employee and most of the people here are part-time. It’s understandable that they are unmotivated, but as a member of the workforce, they are in the red and some have already failed.

“The company has gone to the trouble of spending hours to retrain you because your work skills are not up to par… Do you understand?” (Jiro)

At this point, I stopped using honorifics.

If you take it easy on someone with a bad attitude, they will take advantage of you even more.

Kaido and the others are taking it seriously, but the members, including Hizumi, who pride themselves on having done everything right up to this point, are generally critical of me.

I couldn’t say “please” to them even if I wanted to.

“Even if we don’t do this, we’re doing it seriously~” (Dunderhead)

If I, who they had always thought of as lower in rank, gave them a warning, you see, their rebelliousness would easily come out.

But alas.

“So, don’t you feel like participating?” (Jiro)

“I said no. Can’t you even understand that? Are you an idiot?” (Dunderhead)

“Well, if you don’t want to participate, that’s fine.” (Jiro)

“F*ck, then don’t call me.” (Dunderhead)

“You’re fired.” (Jiro)

“Eh?” (Dunderhead)

This is not a warning, you know.

Everyone is in an uproar over my nonchalant handling of the situation.

Some of them are even spilling their words, saying, “You’re kidding, right?” (Jiro)

I have a checklist in my hand, the names match the seating order, and I mark the checkboxes for that person.

“I’m going to say this once so everyone can hear. This is not a threat. If you refuse to retrain, the company says they can send you a notice of termination for your hard work. You must first realize that we don’t desperately need you that.” (Jiro)

“You’re joking. You’ve got to be kidding!” (Dunderhead)

“Unfortunately, I’m a person who separates public and private. I don’t make jokes at work. I will sell your equipment and transfer the money to your account. Rest assured that this month’s salary will be computed for the days you worked because you’re a part-timer. You are not needed.” (Jiro)

When I noticed everyone catching on, I told him to go out and didn’t even look twice at him.

“H-Hey, wait!” (Dunderhead)

“For the rest of you, what do you want to do? If you want to take the training, sit down immediately, if not, get out. Those are the only two choices you have.” (Jiro)

“…” (Employees)

I silently sit down and take a quick look around the room.

I’m not going to rewrite the checklist.

This is like cards in soccer: being ambitious is one thing, but arguing with the referee is another.

As I mentioned earlier, the supervisor has told me that if they are not good enough, she’s willing to allow me to file a letter to get someone off the team.

“I know you’ve heard the rumors, so I’ll tell you. It has been decided that there will be a second batch of employees, your juniors. The deadline is August 1st. They are planning to have a training course during the summer vacation, and we will be in charge of that training.” (Jiro)

Perhaps because the first punch was so effective, many of them listened quietly this time.

I will not touch the subject in order to finish the explanation.

The first thing to remember is that the Demon King Army was never going to be able to teach a human how to fight.

The use of magic power, physique, musculature, fighting techniques, and common sense are all things that, if you think about it dispassionately, are different.

But the reason why we, the first batch, received instruction from the members of the Demon King Army was simply that they were the only ones who could teach us.

Maintaining the dungeon and running a company on the surface, while training a considerable number of personnel, had placed a considerable burden over their shoulders.

It was not until I became chief that I learned that the reason Suela and Kaley worked so much overtime was that they had a lot of extra work to do.

Even so, they had always considered this a necessary expense.

They had planned to train us, the testers, once and then have us assist and instruct the next batch, but the quality was not as good as they had expected, and they had to do the additional work of re-training.

“I’m telling you, I’m not going to say that I had nothing to do with it. However, even in a convenience store, it is normal to teach junior workers to do their jobs when they become senior workers. You should know that you will be in a position to teach others here, as well.” (Jiro)

Currently, I am the only one who is considered by the company to be able to teach.

The company is also looking at Kaido and Minami as being able to do a little more, but this is a very skewed view.

So, at the very least, this re-training was planned in order to ensure that we have solid personnel who can teach the newcomers while also attacking the dungeon.

“If you don’t like it, offer your resignation right here, right now.” (Jiro)

“”…”” (Employees)

Silence was all I got, again.

That’s right. I hate to say it, but I don’t think there is any other company that offers such good pay and holidays as this one.

Even part-time workers get a special salary bonus, and they can decide their own shifts at their own discretion.

Moreover, again, they pay well.

The work is physically demanding, but the returns certainly outweigh the risks.

The members here are just starting to get used to the job, for better or worse.

They look like they can’t make a quick decision to give up the money tree.

“Whether you quit now or later, at least remember that if you don’t make it through this training, you’ll be fired.” (Jiro)

But such hesitation was of no concern to me.

Unlike Japanese companies, which encourage and reward hard work, this is a company run by a Demon King Army that excludes incompetent people.

They do that much, and in fact, I have been told to do the same.

The testers are very upset when they hear this.

“If you don’t like it, then take it seriously. Depending on the result, there will be a salary increase. Good for you.” (Jiro)

With both carrot and stick on hand, some of the testers began to show a little spark of motivation, but the majority still could not hide their uneasiness.

It is funny because some of them include Kaido and Minami, those who will not be trained by me.

“I’ll be the training instructor. Each of you will assemble in the second training room with your equipment in 30 minutes. Anyone who is late will be considered to have declined the training. That’s all.” (Jiro)

I was already equipped and ready to go.

I leave the conference room before anyone else and head for Training Room 2.

“…Oh, for anyone with a large mouth, I advise you to be careful.” (Jiro)
