I left Reese’s clinic and I traveled on foot to the aristocratic area where Diarra-san lives. Cain-san says that he’s only told me that I should go because he thinks I will understand it soon.
As I walked along, I wondered if it would be that easy to find, and soon I found a relatively small mansion built in the middle of an extremely large plot of land. The mansion was at the center of the lot. It was surrounded by wilderness, or should I say it looked completely untouched. It’s not that looks abandoned. It’s just that the space seemed mysterious and alien.
While I was looking at the mansion with my mouth hanging open, the door opened with a bang.
Diarra and a small girl were standing at the end of the door. Their eyes were the same, and they welcomed me with a matching white dress and matching hairstyle.
“Welcome. We are waiting for you.” (Diarra)
“Did Oni-chan heal your injuries?” (Girl)
“Oh, that’s right~ You’re welcome. It is all cleaned up now.”
I looked at the little girl as I replied.
The girl’s eyes were blue and red, the same odd-colored-eyes cat as Diarra-san.
“It’s true! This Onii-chan had cured mama. You were shinning as you healed mommy’s hand!” (Girl)
“What?
“Oh dear, I’m sorry. Kaoru-san, my daughter hasn’t been able to control her powers yet.” (Diarra)
“What? Your daughter can use [Evil Eye] too?”
“My skills have been passed down. It’s quite troublesome, you know. Oh, Cain told you about my magic eye?” (Diarra)
“Yes, he did.”
I happily replied to Diarra-san.
“I’m Nia!” (Girl => Nia)
“Nia-chan? You have beautiful eyes like your mother.”
When I stroked Nia’s head, Nia started to gaze at Diarra-san in surprise.
As I stroked her head, I wondered what was going on.
“Mama! He sed that my eyes are butiful!” (Nia)
“Oh, that’s nice.” (Diarra)
“Yup!” (Nia)
“Oh, no. Since we can’t just stand here talking, let us move to the terrace a little further on.” (Diarra)
“Okay.”
“Let’s not be so formal. I don’t like it.” (Diarra)
“I’m glad you said that.”
I was led by the mother and daughter duo to the terrace.
We passed through a mysterious-looking garden.
We were walking on cobblestones with pale blue lines running through them.
I was feeling a little uncomfortable, she walked on.
After a short walk, we exited the garden.
There was a small terrace in front of the house.
It was carved out of wood and it seemed to be quite luxurious.
The three of us took our seats.
Diarra-san rang the bell and a maid appeared, bringing a tea set and tea cakes, which she carefully served.
“Kaoru-san, is there something you want me to do?” (Diarra)
“I feel like you know everything.”
Picking up the cup, Diarra-san stared at me as she sips some tea.
She smiled from beginning to end as she looks at me.
As she looks at me, I handed over the letter I got from Reese earlier.
Diarra-san then read the letter.
“Do you want to transfer it to this child?” (Diarra)
“Yeah.”
“Personally, I want you to be the one.” (Diarra)
“I don’t want to become a bother, so it’s an impossible request.”
“What if I say I would protect you?” (Diarra)
“I don’t like the feeling of being protected.”
Diarra laughed before her gaze turned sharp for a moment.
“What’s the matter”, I wondered.
“You seem to be just like my husband … oh, that person was also quite stubborn.” (Diarra)
“Your husband?”
“Yeah. He wants to be the protector. Even though he’s weak … but he’s overtaken me before I know it. And now that’s the goal everyone is aiming for right?” (Diarra)
“He was quite amazing.”
“He was always wearing a mask and caring for people around him, even though he was also suffering.” (Diarra)
“You seem to be quite enamored… and how is your husband?”
“He’s not there anymore. He passed away seven years ago.” (Diarra)
“I’m sorry. I should…”
“It’s fine. Well, it was an incurable disease, and I am pregnant with our daughter at that time.” (Diarra)
“It’s a shame he wasn’t able to see his daughter’ face”
“I guess so. I shouldn’t have mentioned that! We’re getting sidetracked. I already knew it, but if she refuses, I’ll give her a knighthood instead.” (Diarra)
“That would be great. And if she needs any help, I’d like to ask you to look after her…….”
“Sure. I don’t mind, but I can’t do it for free.” (Diarra)
Diarra-san is quite sly.
“Then, if Diarra-san and Nia-chan have an illness that a healer can’t cure, I’ll definitely cure it.”
When I suggested that, Diarra-san’s expression turned serious and a complex magic circle appeared in her red-eye.
The magic circle immediately disappeared and the serious expression on her face was swept away, and with a grin, she made a circle with her thumb and forefinger and said, “You got a deal.”
I was looking at Diarra-san, thinking that she must have used her magic eye ability earlier.
“Also, Alicia is living with Cain-san…….”
“Oh, you can’t do that huh. So you want me to protect her, don’t you? Kaoru-san, why don’t you protect her?” (Diarra)
“No, I can’t, I’m leaving this city.”
“Why don’t you take her with you?” (Diarra)
“Hey! No, no, I can’t do that. Cain-san would never allow it.”
“I don’t know.” (Diarra)
For some reason, I didn’t bother denying my feelings about Alicia. I just evaded outright confirming my feelings.
I don’t know what effects [Evil Eye] has, but I think one of them is the ability to see the past.
I wouldn’t understand it if I just keep thinking about it, so I just asked Diarra-san to cut the conversation short.
“So, the people from Eclix.”
“Well, I’ll tell you as much as I know.” (Diarra)
“Please.”
