Otherworld Company Chapter 50.2: What Is The Difference Between Business Trip And Travel Preparation?

I thought I’d better say something before I forgot to say it, but it seems I was right.

It was hard to tell, but I didn’t miss the slight blush on her cheeks.

After a moment, I divert my eyes and follow Memoria as she enters the store.

Perhaps she was working until a while ago, there were cleaning supplies around the store.

Naturally, pick up one and start cleaning.

“Is the store closed today?” (Jiro)

“Yes, and I don’t have any plans to open it yet.” (Memoria)

The actuality that I will not see her again for a while is what made me want to not let the conversation just end.

I had already been to this store many times.

I had some idea of the layout of the items, so we chit-chatted as we shuffled around, dusted, and cleaned up

It is true that the more people you have, the safer you are, but the more attention you attract, in proportion to that.

If that is the case, it would be better to work with a small number of people with a low risk of being exposed.

The purpose of my trip itself is to see and hear. It makes more sense that way.

“The bases are set up over there. We just move from one to the other.” (Memoria)

“Yes, as long as we watch out for monsters, bandits, filthy nobles, corrupt priests, and greedy merchants, we ‘should’ be fine.” (Memoria)

I don’t know if I can be relaxed because I only have Memoria with me, or if I can’t be relaxed because of the dangerous environment over there.

Apparently, the business trip destination is so unsafe that the usage of the word ‘should’ remains questionable.

Compared to the most dangerous places on earth, they might even be considered cakewalks?

“How are you going to get around?” (Jiro)

“I would say a carriage, but since we will be walking to the first town, please pack only as much as that bag. We can’t use Magic Bags because they are too conspicuous.” (Memoria)

“It looks like I’m going with the bare minimum.” (Jiro)

“Also, I forgot to mention that you should not rely on my combat skills over there to conceal my vampiric abilities.” (Memoria)

“So it really is going to be dangerous.” (Jiro)

The more I listen to it, the more I find myself rumbling about my concerns.

“Has Memoria been to Ithar?” (Jiro)

“I’ve peddled there for several times, I know the geography well.” (Memoria)

“Then can you tell me what I would need as supplies? I’ve never done anything like this before.” (Jiro)

If I forget to buy something, there is no convenience store there like in this world.

I would have to make do with what I can manage there.

“If you have water, a fire, a way to handle beasts, and blankets to keep you warm, you should be fine.” (Memoria)

“Hey, I’m going on a business trip, right? I’m not going on a survival trip, am I?” (Jiro)

“I was joking.” (Memoria)

Please, if you are joking, say it with a facial expression that shows you are joking. I will try my best to pick up on it.

Sure, I thought I could live with that.

Putting my state of mind aside, we’ve finished cleaning the store for the most part, and now it’s time for me to do my business.

“Please wait a bit.” (Memoria)

Memoria, who had propped the cleaning supplies up against the wall, went straight into the back storage room.

It took her less than a minute to do so.

She returned with a hooded cloak of the same color as the one she was wearing in one hand and a shoulder-slung leather bag in the other.

“Both of these are common equipment one would use when traveling.” (Memoria)

“Got it.” (Jiro)

“Both add up to 50,000 yen.” (Memoria)

“You’re still going to charge me!? Is this normal?” (Jiro)

“I’m running a business, so even if I am your girlfriend, there is a line I have to draw.” (Memoria)

I was somewhat distracted by her nonchalant business attitude and felt a sense of comfort in our exchange that I hadn’t experienced in a while.

“I will ask for a receipt for everything later.” (Jiro)

“Okay. Next is food supplies. This is Ithar’s preserved food.” (Memoria)

“I know… but that doesn’t look right.” (Jiro)

“It really looks bad. But it is usually made into a soup so you can consume it.” (Memoria)

And the next thing she showed me was something black she called dried meat that actually looked more like a rock.

Frankly, if we were going to eat this, I would like to bring canned food instead, but I don’t think I can do that either.

“Is it okay to bring some seasonings?” (Jiro)

“If I refill it, it won’t be a problem. I’m going to bring my own.” (Memoria)

“Yes!” (Jiro)

When I heard that, I made a guts pose on reflex.

As is the case on overseas business trips, it is generally the food situation that worries me.

No matter how bad the food is, it can be managed with the right seasonings.

I had a glimmer of hope, so I consulted with Memoria and decided what I would bring with me.

I was worried about how things would turn out, but now I felt that things would turn out just fine.

I got the receipt at the last minute and laughed with Memoria when I saw the amount.
