After the execution of Basamark, a feast was held.
Many aristocrats were gathered.
“Oh! If it isn’t Ars!” (Lemail)
I heard the voice of a familiar person.
It was Lemail Pailes, the former Mayor of Canale mayor and now the current Mayor of Beltud.
“It seems that you experienced a big success. Well, I’ll leave Canale to her new Lord, and there seems to be no problem!” (Lemail)
Lemail-san laughed happily.
His whole face is red, probably because he had a little alcohol.
“How is Beltud?”
“It’s a good place. Compared to Canale, it’s a lot bigger and a lot more difficult. Also, the nobles who were so curt with me when I was mayor of Canale now give me a second glance and listen to what I have to say, which is a good thing.” (Lemail)
Canale is one of the most remote counties in Messiaen, and it is also not that big.
A nobleman’s rank in a war-torn world is ultimately determined by his ability.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that competence is determined by the number of troops that can be mobilized.
It was only natural that those who ruled over large territories would be looked upon with favor.
The feast was about to begin.
Clan-sama stepped in front of the nobles and gave a speech.
The content of the speech did not enter my ears, instead, I was thinking about the words Basamark had said just before his death.
Eventually, Messiaen will be split.
Clan has no older brother or a younger brother anymore.
His son would probably think that if he waited long enough, he would eventually take over, so unless Clan-sama did something terrible, he would not turn against him.
To be honest, I feel that the probability of separation is not very high.
Why did Basamark say such a thing?
He said something about losing the trust of his vassals, or so he said.
In other words, as in the state of Sights, influential vassals rebelled, which caused the split in of Messiaen.
Did he want to say that?
Well, but I saw all the mayors of Messiaen, but no one was more capable than Clan-sama.
Of course, it would be impossible for a vassal who is more incompetent than Clan to wake up and cause an uprising, and would such a thing ever happen?
I thought Basamark’s words were still out of line.
“The biggest contributor to this battle is Canale’s Mayor Ars Louvent! Ars, come forward!” (Clan)
While I was thinking deeply, that was when I was called.
So I hurried to get in front of the nobles.
“If Canale had been taken, we might not have been able to defeat the Alcantes like this. The Sights had 80,000 troops, and the Canale army, including the reinforcements I sent, had 30,000. There was more than double the difference, but they were able to defend it. It was a tremendous accomplishment.” (Clan)
No one, not even the nobles, could complain about those words.
Although I was a child, I became the mayor of a county, and there have been a lot of opposing voices until now, but I would be grateful if this was the beginning of the end of that.
“How about some words from Ars.” (Clan)
Clan has acted quite unreasonable.
I was in trouble.
I cannot think about what to say.
If I don’t speak, it will cause a scene in this place. I can’t stand this air.
Anyway, I decided to say something, even if it was just a very common speech.
“Well… we were in a very critical situation, but I worked hard. I will continue to do my best for Clan-sama and for Messiaen…”
I couldn’t say much.
It seemed that there was no problem even if I couldn’t say anything grand, since the place was already lively.
The feast was over and we returned to Canale.
And August 8th, my 14th birthday.
It was decided that we would be holding my wedding ceremony with Lithia.
